Little Blue River Trail
Fairbury’s Little Blue River Trail
Now Open
Fairbury’s old Rock Island Railroad bridge, which spans the
Little Blue River at the Fairbury damn site, now serves as the
focal point of Fairbury’s newest fitness trail. The bridge
is also equipped with three fishing piers for anglers, both young
and old, wanting to try their luck at catching local fish.
The Little Blue River Trail follows the Rock Island Railroad right-of-way
from 3rd & C Streets, over the railroad bridge and proceeds
down a crushed limestone path to the Crystal Springs Road.
The Trail, which is just under a mile in length, passes over the
river at the point where water cascades over the damn, a site that
is particularly beautiful at dawn or dusk. The Trail then winds
through a wooded area adjacent to the Flathead Wildlife Management
Area. A variety of wildlife – deer, wild turkeys and native
birds can all been seen while on the Trail.
