Husker Rehab Celebrates
1st Anniversary In New Location
Quality Care You Can Trust
Husker Rehabilitation & Wellness Centers, P.C., known by many as Husker Rehab, has been providing quality care and rehabilitation services to the Fairbury area for over 18 years. October 1st marks the one year anniversary of the company’s relocation to 504 E Street, “on the Square” in the downtown historic district. At this location, Husker Rehab has been able to continue offering quality physical and occupational therapy under one roof, but with a newly updated facility, private treatment rooms, state-of-the-art equipment, and added fitness and wellness classes.
The clinic’s relocation from the hospital to Fairbury’s downtown has resulted in a much larger facility, as well as added convenience and accessibility, with parking right out front. The facility also gives patients the option of having private consultations and treatment sessions in one of four spacious and comfortable rooms. An on-site rehabilitation gym assists Husker Rehab’s patients in achieving optimal results, regaining strength after surgery or an injury, and reducing the likelihood of future pain. It includes state-of-the-art equipment, such as Kin-Com isokinetic rehabilitation equipment, which uses computer-aided tools to measure completion of recovery goals set forth for patients by their doctors and allows patients to strengthen joints in ways not possible with free weights or resistive bands.
Husker Rehab is located just steps away from downtown pharmacies, retail shops, service providers, and the courthouse. Patients enjoy access to therapy services, on-site fitness classes, and workout equipment, which they can easily use before and after work or on their lunch break.
Fairbury Staff & Services
As the physical therapist and Director of Rehabilitation Services at the Fairbury clinic, Greg Cromer, MSPT, offers a full range of physical therapy services to his patients, helping them to recover from sports injuries, strokes, chronic pain conditions, surgeries, and more. He treats vertigo (BPPV) and balance issues, along with shoulders, knees, backs, ankles, necks, and other areas of the body (pre- and post-operative). Greg is also trained to provide Graston manual therapy services, which assist in locating and breaking up scar tissue that can limit one’s range of motion and cause unnecessary pain.
Before launching Husker Rehab of Fairbury in 1995, Greg gained valuable experience working in Missouri as a physical therapist at the Jefferson County Rehabilitation and Sports Clinic, which also included providing services to six St. Louis area high schools. Since coming to Fairbury, he has continued to support and serve a number of local high schools, offering free consultations to area athletes, such as preseason wrestling assessments.
Since relocating to the downtown clinic, Greg has been able to focus more of his efforts on treating outpatients, which he really enjoys. He also likes to give back to the community, donating his time to the Fairbury Rotary Club, local Teammates mentoring program, Fairbury Community Girls Softball Association, and other organizations. Greg carries a full patient load and oversees a dedicated staff, providing quality care to patients of all ages.
Melissa Cromer, MS OTR/L, provides occupational therapy services to her patients, specializing in elbow, hand, wrist, and finger rehabilitation. Prior to joining Husker Rehab, she developed a work hardening program to help injured workers return to their jobs in a shorter period of time.
Johnna Austin serves as the clinic’s office manager/PT tech, greeting patients with a warm smile and providing assistance with insurance, billing, and treatment. She is also very active in the community of Fairbury, serving as a Teammates mentor, coaching junior high basketball, and taking on other leadership roles.
