June 2017 - The July 4th holiday brings a flurry of activity to Fairbury’s City Park for the annual July 4th Flea Market, drawing hundreds of vendors and thousands of visitors. Events are also planned in the downtown district. E Street between 5th and 6th Street will be blocked to vehicle traffic and open to pedestrians only the entire day for the 5th annual Summer Arts & Music Festival, sponsored by the Fairbury Community Foundation.

July 4th Arts & Music Festival Planned For Downtown, Totally Smoked BBQ, Fairbury NebraskaThe festival will take place on Tuesday, July 4th in front of Stagecoach Mall Antiques & Tasting Room.  Starting at 10 a.m., Artist Lucky Stradley will be demonstrating the ancient Japanese technique of glazing pottery, known as Raku. Kilns will be set up and visitors will have the chance to glaze their own pottery and watch the process from start to finish, plus take home a souvenir. The Craft Fair on the Square will feature artists showing their wares on the sidewalk in front of Husker Rehab at the corner of 5th & E Streets, sponsored by the Jefferson County Art Guild. There will also be a “DIY” rock painting station for the FAIRBURY NE ROCKS program.

July 4th Arts & Music Festival Planned For Downtown, Jareds Super Blues Party, Fairbury NebraskaThe Bonham Theatre Project will be selling popcorn and cold drinks in front of the theatre beginning at 10 a.m. Registration for the Cornhole Tournament will also begin at 10 a.m. in front of the theatre. The double-elimination tournament, which starts at 1 p.m., is sponsored by Ratt Studios. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the theatre.

Kansas Territory Brewering Co, Fairbury NebraskaA beer garden featuring locally crafted beers from Kansas Territory Brewing will open at 10 a.m. Foodies will enjoy gourmet hot dogs from Julie’s Hotdogs and CB Snider of Totally Smoked BBQ will be serving up ribs and sides. Enjoy live blues music on the sidewalk by Jared’s Super Blues Party.

Fairbury High School Percussion, Fairbury NebraskaAt 12 o’clock noon, the Fairbury High School percussion section will be forming a drumline, performing cadences or street beats, a tradition that originates from early military marches. Immediately following, Enigma -The Ultimate Acoustic Experience will be entertaining guests with hits from the 60s, 70s and 80s plus blues and original tunes until 4 p.m.

July 4th Arts & Music Festival Planned For Downtown, Avenue Of Flags, Fairbury NebraskaThe Avenue of Flags will be on display on the lawn of the Jefferson County Courthouse for the July 4th holiday. Volunteers are needed to set up flags on Friday morning, June 30th at 8 a.m.
