Fairbury First Friday Planned For August 2nd, Fairbury NebraskaFairbury First Friday Planned For August 2nd

Jefferson County Art Guild, Fairbury NebraskaFairbury’s First Friday Art Walk is planned for Friday, August 2nd in downtown Fairbury. Beginning at 5 p.m., galleries and shops will be open to visitors showcasing the works of local artists, including Jefferson County Art Guild, New Earth Clay Pottery, Lady George and The Dragon, Main Street Center and Stagecoach Mall Antiques & Tasting Room.

Jefferson County Art Guild located at 520 5th street, across from the Campbell Bros Circus Mural, will feature the works of wood carver, Rocky Yoder from Russell, Ks. Growing up in Colorado, Yoder’s carvings reflect the western lifestyle and symbols of the west. Starting with a chainsaw on elm trees back in 1983, Yoder now carves Maple, Walnut, Basswood and Catalpa. In 1996, Yoder studied under Norma Nicks and has since honed his craft. According to Yoder, "My latest and best carving is merely practice for the next piece, a pattern I wish to continue."

Lucky Stradley, Hubbell NebraskaNew Earth Clay Pottery will feature the works of Lucky Stradley from Hubbell. Stradley is most noted for her mugs, jugs and bowls carved with unusual faces. Stradley most recently demonstrated Raku firing at the July 4th Flea Market and Jefferson County Fair and will soon be embarking on a project to carve window hoods for a historic storefront on the north side of the downtown square. Stradley has also created a series of bowls to benefit the Bonham Theatre Project, which are on sale at Stagecoach Mall Antiques. Stradley’s works will be on display at New Earth Clay Pottery for the entire month of August.

Cindy Chinn, Main Street Center, Fairbury NebraskaLady George and The Dragon, located on the east side of the square will be open for the art walk as well as Main Street Center located at 5th & E Streets, where the works of several local artists including Cindy Chinn, Art Whitton and others will be on display. Visitors to Main Street Center during the Art Walk will be entertained by local musician David Hunt, who will be singing and playing guitar.

WunderRosa Winery, The Tasting Room, Fairbury NebraskaThe Tasting Room located inside Stagecoach Mall Antiques features a century-old style brick wall and massive limestone fireplace carved entirely of concrete, created by artist, Thom Hunt. The Tasting Room will host a wine tasting featuring wines from WunderRosa Winery, located just south of Lincoln, NE. A selection of hors d’oeuvres paired with the wines will be provided by Chef Bob Albrecht, owner of Old Bank Coffee Shop in Nelson, NE. Live music featuring musician Daniel Christian of Lincoln will be entertaining guests from 6 -9 p.m. Tickets are $10 which includes a flight of 5 wines and are available online at www.Fairbury.com or by calling 402.613.2063.
