Fairbury First Friday Art Walk Scheduled For Oct 3rd, Fairbury NebraskaFairbury First Friday Art Walk
Scheduled For Nov 7th

Fairbury’s First Friday event is scheduled for Friday, November 7th in downtown Fairbury. Beginning at 5 p.m., visitors can enjoy many art forms, including photography, paintings, sculpture and pottery created by local artists.

The November Art Walk will include 4 stops and participants in the walk will be given punch cards which will be placed in a drawing for a grand prize.

David Hunt, Fairbury NebraskaThe first stop on the art walk is the Jefferson County Art Guild is located at 511 5th Street, across the street from the Campbell Bros Circus Mural. On display for show and sale will be works created by members of the Guild, which meets each Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for "paint-ins" and Wednesday evenings for art classes.

Steve Wilke, Fairbury NebraskaLocated at 515 4th Street, New Earth Clay Pottery features locally made stoneware pottery by Bill Robbins of Fairbury and is Fairbury’s only working pottery. The November Art Walk will feature the works of potter and Hebron resident, Steve Wilke. Wilke has spent years developing his unique approach to surface decoration on classic pottery forms. Steve will greet guests and talk about his approach to Raku pottery making. The Gallery will also keep Steve's beautiful pots prominently displayed for viewing and for sale through the month of November.

Scott Knives, Fairbury NebraskaBlue River Archery,  in their new location at 406 E Street on the east side of the Square, will feature handmade knives by Tom Scott, owner of Scott Knives of Gladstone. Scott, an avid hunter and outdoorsman, is the Industrial Arts teacher at Fairbury Jr/Sr High School. Scott was mentored by his father, who was a gunsmith, and creates knives with hand-carved handles. Scott will be at the archery shop to greet visitors and will offer for sale a selection of handmade knives with Amish-made hand-sewn sheaths. Great gift ideas for the hunter on your list!

Charlie Partin, Fairbury NebraskaStagecoach Mall Antiques and Tasting Room, located at 508 E Street, will featurethe works of artist Charlie Partin.Partin has been an artist and architect for over 50 years. He carves large scale, public art commissions at the Endicott Clay Products studio and resides in Steele City. For over 25 years Mr. Partin was sole proprietor of Partin Studios a successful architectural practice in Pasco County, Florida designing award-winning schools, homes, office buildings and over 50 church projects. He retired in 1995 to concentrate on his sculpture career. He has since created over 30 major carved brick commissions The U.S. and Canada.

Glacial Till Winery, Fairbury NebraskaManuel and Nissa, Fairbury NebraskaVisitors to The Tasting Room will enjoy a wine-tasting event to benefit Relay for Life. Nebraska wines from Glacial Till and WunderRosa Wineries will be featured along with live music by Manuel & Nissa, acoustic duo from Lincoln. Tickets are $10, available online at www.Fairbury.com or at the door and includes a selection of hors d’oeuvres by Connie Schoeboe.
