Fairbury Nebraska First Friday Art WalkMarch First Friday To Feature
Fairbury’s Own Miller and Hattle

February 2015 - Fairbury’s First Friday event is scheduled for Friday, March 6th in downtown Fairbury. Beginning at 5 p.m., visitors can enjoy many art forms, including photography, paintings, sculpture and pottery created by local artists and two of Fairbury’s graduates, Taylor Miller and Ashley Hattle.

The March Art Walk will include 3 stops and participants on the walk will be given punch cards which, if completed, will be placed in a drawing for a grand prize. Punch cards will be available at the Jefferson County Art Guild.

Fairbury Nebraska First Friday Art WalkFairbury Nebraska First Friday Art WalkThe first stop on the art walk is the Jefferson County Art Guild is located at 511 5th Street, across the street from the Campbell Bros Circus Mural. March’s featured artist is Taylor Miller, daughter of Jerry and Heidi Miller of Fairbury. As a student at Fairbury High School, Miller took art instruction and was inspired by her teacher, Connie Schoeboe. Miller went on a job shadow with a graphic designer from eCreative in Omaha, NE and it was then she decided to pursue a career in art. Today, Miller is a freshman at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, majoring in Visual Communications & Design (graphic design) with a minor in business. Miller will be showing a selection of drawings and paintings as well as some ceramic pieces.

Fairbury Nebraska First Friday Art WalkLocated at 515 4th Street, New Earth Clay Pottery features locally made stoneware pottery by Bill Robbins of Fairbury and is Fairbury’s only working pottery. New Earth Clay Pottery’s gallery features works from many talented Nebraska artists, housed in a beautiful space. The March Art Walk will feature Robbin’s newest functional pottery designs and glazes, made from Endicott’s clay deposits. New Earth Clay Pottery is uniquely Fairbury and is great for collecting and gift giving.

Fairbury Nebraska First Friday Art WalkStagecoach Mall Antiques and Tasting Room, located at 508 E Street, will feature the works of photographer Ashley Hattle. Hattle is a Fairbury graduate, the daughter of Ed Hattle and Linda McGrath. Hattle discovered her passion for photography amongst the rolling hills and vibrant sunsets of Nebraska. After attending the Art Institute of Colorado for photography, Hattle worked under renowned photographer, Garrett Hacking. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Metropolitan State University in Denver. Many of her photographs showcase the beautiful aspects of Nebraska and Colorado. Hattle’s works are printed on high-quality canvas and will be available for sale at Stagecoach Mall that evening.

Fairbury Nebraska First Friday Art WalkVisitors to The Tasting Room will enjoy a wine-tasting event featuring the newest collection of wines, recently bottled by Glacial Till Vineyard (must be 21), paired with hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chef Bob Albrecht. The trio, Molly, Megan & Me will be entertaining guests on guitar, djimbe and cello. Tickets are $15 per person, available online at www.Fairbury.com or at the door.
