Thom Hunt, Big Bamboo Studios, Fairbury Nebraska"Pop Up" Art Gallery Opening February 5th

A new "pop up" art gallery will be opening its doors for the February First Friday Art Walk in downtown Fairbury. The "Old Library Gallery," owned by Fairbury artist Thom Hunt, will feature an International Artist Expo inside the Big Bamboo Studios corporate office, located at 520 5th street, downtown Fairbury. The works of Hunt, Lanny Knutson of Lincoln, NE, Martha Espinosa of Costa Rica and Yuli Castro of Mexico will be on display. The show is free and open to the public, one night only from 5 – 8 p.m.

About The Artists:
Thom Hunt, Big Bamboo Studios, Fairbury NebraskaThom Hunt, native of Fairbury, NE and owner of BB Studios has over 30 years of experience as a professional artist. Hunt has perfected his talents as a sculptor, painter and designer. Hunt’s work has been featured in industry magazines, countless newspapers, periodicals and television shows. His sculptures have been used as props in major motion pictures and can be found in some of the country’s most notable locations, such as the Central Park Children’s Zoo in New York City and Orlando’s theme parks. Hunt’s artistry and skill has taken him to the far reaches of the world and he has an impressive list of clients, including the Prime Minister of Bahrain. Hunt has also completed projects in the Philippines, Costa Rica, Mexico, and various locations across the U.S., including Alaska and Puerto Rico.

Lanny Knutson, Fairbury NebraskaLanny Knutson lives in Lincoln, Ne and currently employed as a staff artist at Big Bamboo Studios in Fairbury. Knutson attended Colorado Institute of Art and enjoys painting portraits, figure drawing, landscapes and cityscapes. Knutson’s works employ traditional realism and expressive style painting using watercolor as his preferred medium. "Lincoln has a thriving culture in the art and music field that I have enjoyed throughout the years. I have established friendships with a number of individuals in the performing arts. Their dedication and passion for their craft is the inspiration for my paintings."

Martha Espinosa, Fairbury NebraskaMartha Espinosa is a self-taught artist, born in San Carlos, Costa Rica, Central America. Since the age of 15 , Espinosa has been attending classes with different national artists. Her works include symbolism and abstract art . In 2012 Espinosa was accepted as an artist to the Museum of Americas in Miami, FL and appointed representative of Costa Rica. In 2013, her works were featured in the Latin American pavilion at the Red Dot Art Fair in Miami. To date,  Espinosa has been featured in 15 exhibitions in Costa Rica, several U.S. cities and countries throughout Europe.

Yuli Castro, Fairbury NebraskaYuli Castro was born in Morelia, Mexico. As an architecture intern, Castro earned a diploma in restoration of movable property and is a licensed historian, cultural manager, illustrator and watercolorist. Castro serves as the general coordinator and organizer of the international Project of Watercolors, entitled, "Lottery Mexican Reinterpreted," which features 54 artists from 9 countries, currently on exhibit in the Cultural Centre of Punta Umbria, Huelva (Spain).
