Progressive Agriculture Safety Day Cancelled for 2020
FAIRBURY – The Jefferson County Progressive Agriculture Safety Day has been cancelled for 2020.
Safety Day coordinator Lana Likens said the local decision was made after learning that the Progressive Agriculture Foundation, which sponsors Safety Days nationwide, made the decision to postpone all in-person Safety Days through July 31. The Jefferson County Progressive Agriculture Safety Day is typically held in late July or early August.
“It is our focus that the safety and health of staff, volunteers, and Safety Day participants remain our top priority,” said Brian J. Kuhl, CEO, Progressive Agriculture Foundation in notifying Safety Day coordinators. “I sincerely apologize that we must make this announcement. In evaluating the precautions necessary to ensure safety during this pandemic, we have identified that a Safety Day under precautionary conditions would not be the ‘normal’ fun, interactive, hands-on event that we all know and love.”
Through hands-on activities, participants learn to prevent incidents and reduce the extent of injuries if incidents do occur. Safety Day stresses the importance of children taking responsibility for their own safety, respecting parents’ safety rules, and sharing safety tips with their family and friends.
The Jefferson County Progressive Agriculture Safety Day is organized by Jefferson County Farm Safety 4 Just Kids. It is made possible by The Progressive Agriculture Foundation. Area business sponsors are key to making Safety Day successful.
